What's up with Shark?

Physical characteristics

This marine vehicle has a body in the form of a supersonic wing profile, which, compared to the Delta form, is strongly rounded at the top.

At the top of the body there is a long size cabin for the pilot(s), the necessary equipment and the oil tanks.

Behind the body at the top side, at both sides of the cabin, there are two air propellers for the propulsion and steering.

Under the body there is a ski.

As the lifting power seizes close to the back side of the craft, the aerodynamic centre, i.e. the spot around which the momentum of the total lifting power at a certain speed is independent from the fixed angle, is situated relatively far at the back side of the craft.

This spot has to be situated behind the centre of gravity anyway in order to obtain longitudinal stability as to the navigational direction. This has been clearly achieved and thus the craft is getting its longitudinal stability.

The lateral stability can be explained by the ground effect of the airfoil.

The directional stability of the craft is mainly due to the directional stability of the Shark profile.

This profile is directionally stable up to angles of about 50 c.

By its long size form the cabin clearly contributes to the high directional stability.

At the water surface the vertebra are being separated and put in a horizontal position by the airfoil. This results in the induced drift of the air foil being strongly reduced.

This means that despite of the high fixed angles of the craft, the drift is being limited, which has a favourable influence on energy consumption of the propulsion motors.

Technical data of “Shark”:

  • Width 2.99 m.
  • Length 3.66 m.
  • Engines: 2x gobler-hirth f 3o
  • Propeller: 77 cm.
  • Speed: higher than that of known marine vehicles.

Market combinations:

  • Applications for civil purposes as transport for people and freight.

The principle of the craft can be additionally developed for more people and freight (due to its high pay load capacity), coast watch, exploration missions, humanitarian operations and fun at recreational activities. The “autostrada del mar”, fast and safe transport for people or “marine taxi” for a limited number of people.

Marine vehicle for defence purposes.

As to the compatibility of licences it does appear unlikely to us that producers of defence materials will accept that the same marine vehicle with such expansive behaviour and possibilities would be brought to the free market as transportation craft or commercial craft, race or sports craft.
